Tamara has been a teacher of Hatha yoga for 19 years. She took her first Hatha yoga class while in graduate school at the University of California, Berkeley in 1985. She has practiced a variety of yoga styles, including Hatha, Ashtanga, Anusara and Amrit styles of yoga. While in Berkeley, California, she was also a dancer with Balle Sabaa, where she practiced African dance and modern dance.
Tamara is registered at the 200 hour level of yoga teacher training. She received her teacher training Level One certificate from the Amrit Yoga Institute in 2004. She is particularly interested in adapting yoga for diverse populations such as people of color, seniors, youth, people living with chronic illness and yoga for runners.
Tamara is a resident of Takoma Park, Maryland and a native Washingtonian. She holds two Masters' Degrees, one in Business Administration and one in Public Health, with a concentration in Health Services Management, from the University of California, Berkeley as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University. She enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two sons.
