Please help us spread the word about this Gentle Yoga Community Class on Thursdays. If you know seniors or others who may benefit from this virtual class—or if you are connected to a community organization working with clients who may benefit—please connect them with Circle Yoga. For participants who are able to make a contribution, the suggested donation is $5 or more, but no donation is required to participate in this class. All are welcome.

Gentle Yoga is designed for adults of any age, including seniors and those with minor physical ailments, who prefer a slower paced or more relaxed practice. Students practice beginning yoga postures and work on the principles of body alignment and breath awareness. Teachers provide lots of variations and use props generously to ensure that poses are accessible for students with extra tight hips, cranky knees, or other limitations. Students of all levels are welcome, including those who are new to yoga. This class may be done in a chair.

Camille Martone

Camille teaches yoga and mindfulness to kids and adults, and to individuals who are marginalized/vulnerable in a variety of settings, in studios, schools, at home, community centers, and homeless services organizations. She particularly likes to bring the practice to all to bolster their sense of body and spirit and encourage their self confidence and self worth.

Camille began her personal yoga practice in 1982 at a lunch time break from her Historic Architecture profession. She became a AFFA certified fitness instructor for the YMCA (where she taught for 20 years) starting in 1988 where she taught aerobics, pre and postnatal fitness, body sculpting, Nordic walking, boot camp, beginner yoga, and kids' gymnastics. She became a certified children's yoga instructor shortly after Budding Yogis (the precursor to Circle Yoga) opened and taught a variety of kids' yoga classes, where she continues to teach. She completed her 200 hour Circle Yoga Teacher Training in the first ever CYTT, where she is a regular sub for a variety of classes. She loves to sub for a variety of classes young and old, gentle and challenging, but is particularly fond of teaching older adults who may otherwise find challenges as they age (as we all do) - and have a great sense of humor.

After suffering from a bad bike accident - Camille found the practice of Craniosacral Therapy to help in her healing and shortly thereafter became a registered Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapist. She has shared this practice of healing with students and teachers at Circle Yoga, and also shares it with those less fortunate in marginalized communities around the city. 

Camille is a mindfulness practitioner and facilitator at Opening Heart Mindfulness Community in the tradition of Thich Nhat Han, where she served on the board for several years. She is involved in several committees in this community with the Inclusivity Committee being the most relevant for her at this time, encouraging social justice to include opportunities and human rights for all. With yoga and mindfulness, and her love of nature, healthy food, and all living things, Camille hopes to bring more peace, freedom, liberation, and happiness to all beings everywhere.
