Join Anne, Eloise and other Circle Yoga friends for an afternoon hike in Rock Creek Park. We'll be mostly on unpaved trails with easy to moderate elevation gain. As a part of our hike, we'll practice some walking meditation together and finish with a short 10-minute yoga practice (no yoga mat needed). We'll gather between 1:30 and 1:45pm, and we'll start our hike at 1:45pm.

This is a free community hike for students, teachers, staff, and friends of Circle Yoga. Please sign up in advance if you'd like to come, and feel free to bring your family or a friend!

Please bring your own water bottle and snacks, and wear closed toed shoes. We look forward to seeing you on the trail!

Location: We'll meet on Horse Stable Road, which is at the intersection of Oregon Ave NW and Northampton St NW. There is parking in this area, but if no spaces are available, you can park on Northampton Street NW. This is about 1.5 miles from Circle Yoga.

Rain plan: If it's drizzling, we'll still plan to hike but if it's more extreme weather we'll cancel.

Anne K. Kennedy

More than 18 years ago, Anne called her mom to report that she was leaving her desk job to train as a yoga teacher. There was dead silence and a lot of worry on the other end. Today, Anne has a job that she never could have dreamed up. As the Executive Director at Circle Yoga Cooperative, she gets to spend her work hours at a mission-driven, cooperative business, where she is barefoot most of the time. She loves working side by side with a such a talented and committed group of teachers and staff. After 14 years of teaching weekly classes at the studio, Anne is currently on hiatus from teaching. She is instead focused on working with staff, teachers, and the Circle Yoga Board of Directors to rebuild the business in the wake of the pandemic and expand the studio's outreach and equity work.

Eloise Russo

Eloise began practicing yoga in the early 2000s as a way to soften and unwind while training for a marathon. As yoga became a more integral part of her life, and marathon running faded into the background, she wanted to deepen her practice and joined Circle Yoga's teacher training in 2017. Eloise later completed restorative yoga teacher training with Jillian Pransky at Kripalu, meditation teacher training with Tracee Stanley, yoga for active aging through YogaWorks, and a 600-hour Ayurveda health counselor training through Shakti School focused on holistic health and healing. Eloise is drawn to the more restorative and yin aspects of yoga and teaches the practices that have been most supportive and healing for her. Eloise serves as the Director of Finance at Circle Yoga, and is also a positive psychology coach.
