This Prenatal Yoga class offers pregnant people the opportunity to relax, build strength and flexibility, and feel more comfortable in their changing bodies. Classes include movement and breathing practices, relaxation techniques, and mind/body awareness. This is a mixed-level class, open to people in all stages of pregnancy—beginners are welcome! It's also a wonderful opportunity to connect with other parents and parents-to-be. After baby arrives, join us for the Baby & Me Yoga class on Fridays!

Tamar Greengarden

Tamar Lewkowitz, RYT 200, teaches adults, children, infants, and families. Tamar encourages all of her students to connect with their bodies and to explore what feels right for them. In adult classes, Tamar incorporates flowing sequences to help link breath with movement. She also provides opportunities for her students to hold postures for longer periods of time to build strength and endurance, and to bring attention to the muscles and connections being targeted in each pose. Tamar is also certified in Chair Yoga and offers a variety of modifications so that all students can participate and benefit from the practice. She believes yoga should be inclusive for all people.

Tamar has her Budding Yogi and Every Kids Yoga: Teaching Yoga to Kids with Special Needs certifications through Circle Yoga. As a former Special Education teacher for 7 years, she is passionate about creating fun and engaging lessons to help children have positive body awareness, mindful connections with themselves and others, and tools to use outside of the classroom.

Tamar looks forward to practicing with you and the whole family!

Stephanie P. Preller

Stephanie’s yoga journey began after moving to a new city in search of community. She was immediately hooked and quickly became a regular practitioner. Stephanie completed her 200-hour teacher training, where she was trained to teach vinyasa and power yoga styles. When Stephanie became pregnant with her first child, she began practicing prenatal yoga, which was instrumental in helping her cultivate the physical strength and sense of calm and ease that was so important during her pregnancy and throughout new parenthood. This inspired Stephanie to go on to complete her 85-hour prenatal yoga training. Stephanie has also completed Yoga for Baby and Toddlers and Trauma Informed Yoga trainings. She believes it's truly a privilege to support folks during the special and challenging time of pregnancy and postpartum, and to share the many gifts she received from her own experience. Stephanie’s goal is to provide accessible, well rounded, and empowering classes that emphasize the mind-body connection.

Kate Miller

Kate has been teaching hatha yoga since 1995. With a gift for teaching to all levels and physical conditions, she loves to weave words of inspiration into her clear, direct instruction. She encourages her students to think outside the box and look at how their physical and emotional environments shape their bodies, minds and hearts. Kate draws her extensive knowledge from not only many teachers and styles of hatha yoga and meditation, but also from her love of anatomy and kinesiology, natural movement, acrobatics and many forms of dance. Functional and natural moves are always integrated into her asana classes (cuz we all need to be able to get up, bend over and reach for something). Kate is also a mom of two and works as a local massage therapist and birth doula. She holds a BFA in Modern Dance from the University of New Mexico and a masters degree in Spiritual Psychology from the University of Santa Monica.

Michelle C. Cohen

Michelle Cohen, RYT, RPYT, CPBD is passionate about helping birthing people have an embodied and supported childbearing year. Through her trainings as a birth and postpartum doula and prenatal and postnatal yoga, teacher she supports birthers in group classes, personalized private sessions, labor support workshops, birth mentorship and compassionate birth and postpartum doula support. Michelle has been working with families since 2008, teaching hundreds of pregnant and new parents how to connect with their bodies and their babies, through breath, movement and mindful awareness.

When she’s not telling someone to lengthen their exhale, witnessing the miracle of birth, or trying to make a positive impact in the world, she’s spending time with her two energetic sons and husband in the heart of Washington, D.C.
